About INMA
Who we are
Indian Neurogastroenterology & Motility Association (INMA), formerly named Indian Motility & Functional Diseases Association, was registered in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India in 2011 by Prof. Uday C Ghoshal. The Office of the association is located at the Department of Gastroenterology, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow.
Functional gastrointestinal (GI) disorders, currently called disorders of gut-brain interaction, and GI motility disorders are common all over the world including India. Patients with these disorders contribute about two-thirds of gastroenterology clinic workload in most parts of the world. Since epidemiology, pathogenesis and management of these disorders in India in particular are still evolving, there was a need for a group of committed workers in this subspecialty of Gastroenterology in India. Accordingly, this association was started in 2011.
Our aims
- 1Provide standardized care to patients suffering from GI motility and functional disorders in India
- 2Share knowledge about these disorders with doctors and other health care workers
- 3Increase awareness among patients, public and policy makers
- 4Perform multicentre research on these diseases in India
- 5Promote knowledge about GI motility and functional GI disorders in all possible ways
